RF Laser

Acne, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and other skin issues don’t have to make you feel self-conscious anymore. First OC Dermatology radiofrequency (RF) laser treatments can transform your skin and confidence!

What is Radiofrequency Laser Skin Treatment?

Radiofrequency (RF) laser skin treatments use concentrated radiofrequency energy to penetrate beneath the skin’s surface to promote healing from the inside out. As a fully customizable cosmetic treatment, RF laser therapy can help with a wide range of concerns including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Discoloration
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Acne scars
  • Loss of elasticity
  • Mild to moderate skin sagging

Unlike other laser therapy treatments, RF lasers are capable of penetrating at various depths to address your specific concerns without damaging surrounding skin cells.

How Does RF Laser Treatment Work?

Radiofrequency laser treatments use low frequency radiation to target deeper layers of the skin to promote natural cell turnover as well as elastin and collagen production. This naturally helps to replenish depleting collagen deposits in the skin, giving you plumper, more youthful looking skin.

Because RF laser treatments are so highly focused and customizable, they can be used to treat signs of aging other lasers may not be ideal for addressing. Specifically, as a non-surgical skin tightening solution, radiofrequency laser treatments are great for:

  • Sagging jawline
  • Drooping under eye
  • Loose skin on the neck
  • Loose skin on the legs and thighs
  • Loose skin on the abdomen
  • Loose skin on the upper arms

RF laser treatments are ideal for patients looking to reverse the signs of aging subtly and gradually. Unlike other treatments, there’s no risk of looking ‘overdone’ or drastically changing the look and shape of your face. You still look like you, just younger.

How Long Until I See Results?

As a naturally stimulating treatment, RF laser results can take anywhere from 2 to 6 months – about the time it takes your skin to produce new cells and replenish the lost collagen and elastin. For patients with more significant wrinkles or loose skin, your provider may suggest a series of treatments to see optimal results. You may also consider combining your radiofrequency laser treatment with other services, like microneedling or skin resurfacing to boost your results.

What Side Effects Can I Expect?

Radiofrequency lasers are generally safer than ablative laser treatments because they don’t directly impact the outermost layer of skin. Instead, they work to heal your skin from the inside out, stimulating those lower layers of skin to produce collagen and elastin as well as promoting cell turnover so damaged skin cells are replaced by younger, healthier ones.

That said, the most common side effects of RF laser treatment are redness and mild swelling. These typically resolve themselves within 24 hours of your session. If you experience discomfort, you can take an over-the-counter pain medication like Tylenol to manage your symptoms. Avoid using non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like aspirin, Motrin, Advil, or ibuprofen.
