What isXEOMIN®?
XEOMIN® is part of the school of neuromodulators used cosmetically to relax the muscles responsible for forming fine lines and wrinkles in the face, particularly in the forehead, around the nose and mouth, and under the eyes.
 Much like BOTOX® Cosmetic, the most well-known and recognized neuromodulator, XEOMIN® uses small amounts of botulinum toxin type A to block nerve signals to the muscles, preventing them from contracting and causing fine lines and wrinkles to appear.
 The main difference between BOTOX® Cosmetic and XEOMIN® is the effective period. XEOMIN® results can last up to 6 months, where BOTOX® Cosmetic typically begins to fade between 3 and 4 months after the injection. This means less touch up sessions, saving you time and money.
How is XEOMIN® Different to BOTOX® Cosmetic?
XEOMIN® contains a ‘naked’ form of the active ingredient botulinum toxin type A. This means it doesn’t contain any accessory proteins or additives found in BOTOX® Cosmetic. In one double-blind study, XEOMIN® was found to start working faster and last longer than BOTOX® Cosmetic.
 The unique formulation of XEOMIN® also means it is less likely to lead to antibody resistance, which can happen overtime with BOTOX® Cosmetic. Antibody resistance may cause you to need more units over time to get the same results.
Is XEOMIN® Safe?
XEOMIN® is FDA-approved and clinically proven safe and effective for cosmetic use. Botulinum-based cosmetic injectables have been FDA-approved since 1989, but its history of medical study and use goes back nearly 100 years. Advancements in cosmetic injectable science and technology have only made these treatments safer and more effective over the years.
 Serious reactions and side effects are rare, but they do happen. These can include breathing difficulties, or feeling dizzy or faint. When Will I See Results?
XEOMIN® begins working at the time of injection, but it may take between 7 and 10 days to begin noticing its effect. Some patients see results sooner, in as little as 4 days. Your specific timeframe for seeing changes in your appearance can depend on a number of factors, including area of treatment, history of Botulinum-based cosmetic injectable use, and amount administered.
How Long Does XEOMIN® Last?
One of the primary reasons patients choose XEOMIN® vs BOTOX® Cosmetic and other neuromodulators is because the effects tend to last longer. While BOTOX® Cosmetic usually lasts between 3 and 4 months, XEOMIN® can last 6 months or longer in some cases. This means you may need as few as two injection sessions per year, saving you time and money.
It is important to note that, while XEOMIN® effects will eventually fade, they are not reversible. This is why it’s vital to ensure your administrator is licensed and trained in cosmetic injections including XEOMIN® to avoid unwanted side effects like drooping eyelids or lips.
